《 紅樓夢》小說每回出現戲曲主題時，往往是牽動、隱喻著故事的發展走向，《紅樓．夢崑曲》以《占花魁．受吐》、《玉簪記．琴挑》、《西遊記．借扇》及《琵琶記．喫糠》四折戲作為演出主軸，並邀請紅學專家老師為觀眾講解其中深藏的意義，讓觀眾從這四折暗喻劇中主角處境及結局、愛情體會的經典劇目裡，一同體會賈府中的愛戀心境，在觀眾心中畫出一些漣漪，最後一起找到出口。

Whenever a Xiqu performance appears in the classic Chinese novel, Dream of the Red Chamber, it often impacts and metaphors with story development. In this performance, it is based on the four excerpts, “Shou Tu (Catching Vomit)” from Pursuing the Oiran, “Qin Tiao (Flirting with a Zither)” from The Jade Hairpin, “Jie Shan (Borrowing the Plantain Fan)” from Journey to the West, “Chi Kang (Eating Grain Husks)” from Tale of the Pipa.

By also inviting experts to explain the hidden meaning in these four excerpts that imply the characters’ situations, endings, and thoughts on love, the audience can live vicariously through the characters in Jia’s house.
